Response Mailer Tutorial - Setup an email drip marketing campaign

Email Drip Marketing Outline
This tutorial walks you through the steps to setup Response Mailer to send several promotional emails to current and potential clients.
Email Drip Marketing allows individuals who have opted-in to receive your information specifically and directly.  Drip marketing continually informs and encourages your prospects and leads to proactively seek your service.

Step 1: Create a Followup Responder
Choose option “New Follow-up Responder” from the “File” menu.
 

Step 2: Create a New Follow-up Responder
The following screen will be displayed.

Click on the “Create” button.

Step 3: Setting General Follow-up Information
The following screen will be displayed.


The key fields on this screen are :

• Title – enter short title for this campaign
• Description – enter a short description for this campaign
• Mail account – use the pull down menu to choose the mail server that will be used for sending this auto reply or choose option “Add E-Mail Account” to create a new E-Mail Account.

After entering the information click on the “Next” button to move onto the next screen.

Step 4: Create your messages
The following screen will be displayed.
 

Click the "New" button to add a message.

The following screen will be displayed.
 

The key fields on this screen are :

• Message Title – the message title which will be used to identify this message.
• Schedule – indicate the time for scheduling the delivery of the message; use the pull down menu to set the number and the time frequency (Hours, Days, Weeks, Months)
• Message – create the contents of the message body

After entering the information click on the “Message” button.

Step 5: Enter the message content
The following screen will be displayed.
 

The key fields on this screen are :

• From – the senders email and name
• Subject – enter the subject of the message
• Attachments – click on the “Add” button to add a document that will be sent as an attachment 

Enter the From and Subject and click the "Next" button.

The following screen will be displayed.
 

Enter the body of the message. For HTML message you can utilize the toolbar to add various formatting to the message. 

Click the "Finish" button to save the message.
You can add additional messages by repeating Step 4 and Step 5.
After entering the all your messages click on the “Next” button to move onto the next screen.

Step 6: Opt-in / Opt-out
The following screen will be displayed.

For this marketing campaign we will not be using the opt-in / opt-out feature so click the "Next" button.
However, you can also setup automatic optin / optout.

Step 7: Prospects list
The following screen will be displayed.

For this marketing campaign we will import our prospects so click the "Finish" button.

Step 8: Create a Prospect List
Use your favourite text editor or spreadsheet program like Excel to create a list of prospect.
You will need 2 columns to store the information. The first column stores the email address and the second one stores the name.
For example:
Name,Email
Billy Bob,bill@yourdomain.com
"Paul Brown, jr",paul@yourdomain.com

Step 9: Import your Prospects
Choose option “Prospect Manager” from the “Tools” menu.
 

Step 10: Select the leads file
The following screen will be displayed.


Select the follow-up responder that you want to add these prospects to.
Select the text file with the list of email addresses and click the "Start Import" button.

Step 11: Verify
Your drip marketing mailer is now read to start the email marketing campaign.
