Description:Followup Mailer is not sending out any autoreplies or follow-up email messages. When I check Outlook Express I can see the message in my inbox but the automailer does not see it.
Solution
This is happening because Outlook or Outlook Express is deleting the e-mail messages from your incoming POP3 server before Followup Mailer gets a chance to process it.
POP3 servers by default store e-mail on the server only until you download them into your mail client. As soon as a message is downloaded, the email progam tells the server the message has been received and the server copy should be deleted. By default Outlook Express and Outlook follows will automatically remove your new email messages from your mail server. This will cause Followup Mailer not to see the new e-mail messages and therefore not send out an autoreply.
To fix this problem we need to configure Outlook or Outlook Express to "leave a copy of messages on server".
1. On the Outlook Express Tools menu, click Accounts.
2. Click the Mail tab, and then double-click your e-mail account.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Check the box labeled "Leave a copy of messages on server." Doing this activates two clean-up options:
• If desired, check the box to "Remove from server after 5 days." You may change this to any number between 1 and 100.
• If desired, check the box to "Remove from server when deleted from ‘Deleted Items.'"
Be careful using this option! Most ISPs limit the size of your POP3 mailbox. Saving messages on the server can cause your mailbox to become full very quickly, and so you might not receive important messages until you delete the server copies.
Outlook and Outlook Express allows you to override the default behavior and leave a copy of messages on the server.
