How do I prevent my child from running other programs?
Answer
There are a number of settings that you can turn on to lock down your computer.
- Enter Parental Mode. How to go into 'Parental Mode'
- Click the 'Hammer & Spanner' icon on the toolbar to display the 'Parental Mode Settings' entry screen.
- Select the 'General' tab
- Check the 'Automatically load KidSplorer when you login' item.
- Select the 'Restrictions' tab
- Check the 'Use password to exit the program' item and enter a password.
- Check the 'Prevent Windows Explorer from running' item.
- Check the 'Prevent Internet Explorer from running' item.
- Check the 'Hide Windows Desktop' item.
- Check the 'Prevent Program switching..' item.
- Check the 'Hide the Program's Minimize & Maximize buttons
' item.
- Click the OK button to close this window and save your changes.
- Click the "padlock" icon to exit "Parental Mode" and return to normal KidSafe mode.
You can individually turn on each item to see exactly how it affects KidSplorer, then you can decide which items are suitable for you.
